Help animals

Work assignements in animal shelters

When animal shelters need help, the SUST is there for them.

While animal shelters and graveyards fight daily for their existence and take care of the complex care of their orphans, it can happen that important points are neglected in their animal shelter everyday life.

Since 2000, the animal shelter support provided by the Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation has been helping where animal shelters reach their limits: It is part of the daily work of the SUST experts to carry out days of work in animal shelters in which SUST teams tackle long overdue tasks, modify or supplement animal shelter facilities, reorganise animal shelter procedures, coordinate craftsmen's work (and bear their costs) and deliver animal feed, animal shelter utensils and building materials to animal shelters throughout Switzerland and abroad.

Here, animal welfare workers use their free time, expertise and strength to help homeless animals.

SUST working day at the cat sanctuary "Schnurrli" in Sternenberg

April 28 2018

Under the watchful eyes of the feline inhabitants, a large team of SUST volunteers accomplished a great working day yesterday: In perfect weather conditions, hedges were cut back, weeds removed, fences were searched for holes, the lawn of the entire inner enclosure was mowed, all material was taken from the tool shed and the material shed and sorted, the floor and the roof of the tool shed were newly made, the material house was cleaned with a high pressure cleaner and made mouse safe, shelves were set up and therefore food, litter, traps and lots got put away in a more structured way, sandboxes were renovated and newly built, and all cat houses got cleaned, disinfected and newly furnished. And of course the cuddling with the pussycats didn't get neglected either! mäusesicher gemacht, Regale aufgebaut und Futter, Streu, Fallen und vieles mehr wieder strukturiert eingeräumt, Sandkästen renoviert, neue Sandkästen gebaut und alle Katzenhäuschen gereinigt, desinfiziert und neu eingerichtet. Und selbstverständlich kam auch das Schmusen mit den Büsi nicht kurz.

A tremendous achievement, which is only possible thanks to our super motivated volunteers and also due to the great organization of the people who are responsible for the cat sanctuary.

We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your great commitment!
