Help animals

The activities of SUST

All over the world, countless animals in overcrowded shelters live sadly or struggle for their survival in wild colonies. Day after day, even today, animals that have become inconvenient are still abandoned, deported or mistakenly kept for lack of better knowledge. The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation contributes with effective means to the fact that animal suffering can be reduced or even prevented sustainably.

This animal welfare work is based on four pillars:

1. Competence Centre Animal Shelter: Animal shelters become high-quality transition stations for homeless animals, where animals are kept and promoted in a way that is appropriate for their species and finally transferred to good new places.

2. Neutering campaigns: Braking the animal misery

3. Education and training of specialists: Specialists are given the opportunity to optimise their knowledge and improve animal welfare.

4. Education of the population: love of animals with heart and mind

These four elements form the important basis for sustainable animal welfare projects.

Those animals that are not yet able to benefit from the effects of this reconstruction work and have been born into a world where they are not wanted need the emergency aid of SUST.

SUST animal shelter working day in Neos cat station

Together we can achieve a lot: Last Saturday a SUST team spent a whole day together with other volunteers in Kleinlützel in order to work actively on the construction of the cat station.

There is a lot to do: Besides many cats, Anita Schlemmermeyer also offers chickens and guinea pigs a home. And so the SUST animal welfare workers, under the direction of SUST Operations Leader Corinne Frana, dedicated themselves to the construction of the guinea pig enclosure, the chicken run, the isolation of the future cat home and much more.

We thank all participants from the bottom of our hearts for their motivated commitment!

SUST working days in Switzerland: Important support for animal shelters. This Saturday, a large team of SUST helpers under the leadership of Simone Maurer is working at Border Homeless and is carrying out urgently needed work. While animal shelters and sanctuaries all over Switzerland fight daily for their existence and take care of the complex care of their orphans, it can happen that important points are neglected in their everyday life at the shelter. Since 2000, the animal shelter support provided by the Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation has been helping where animal shelters reach their limits: It is part of the daily work of the SUST experts to carry out days of work in animal shelters in which SUST teams tackle long overdue tasks, modify or supplement animal shelter facilities, reorganise animal shelter procedures, coordinate craftsmen's work (and assume their costs) and deliver animal feed, animal shelter utensils and building materials to animal shelters throughout Switzerland. Here, animal welfare workers use their free time, expertise and strength to help homeless animals. Please support us: https://www.susyutzinger.ch/en/donate
