Help animals

The activities of SUST

All over the world, countless animals in overcrowded shelters live sadly or struggle for their survival in wild colonies. Day after day, even today, animals that have become inconvenient are still abandoned, deported or mistakenly kept for lack of better knowledge. The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation contributes with effective means to the fact that animal suffering can be reduced or even prevented sustainably.

This animal welfare work is based on four pillars:

1. Competence Centre Animal Shelter: Animal shelters become high-quality transition stations for homeless animals, where animals are kept and promoted in a way that is appropriate for their species and finally transferred to good new places.

2. Neutering campaigns: Braking the animal misery

3. Education and training of specialists: Specialists are given the opportunity to optimise their knowledge and improve animal welfare.

4. Education of the population: love of animals with heart and mind

These four elements form the important basis for sustainable animal welfare projects.

Those animals that are not yet able to benefit from the effects of this reconstruction work and have been born into a world where they are not wanted need the emergency aid of SUST.

What a happy ending...

January 2023

We love small miracles!
The elderly couple in the picture was traveling to a hospital appointment in Bucharest (RO) when they saw two dogs playing with something on the side of the road. This something looked very lively... so they immediately turned around. When they stopped at the dogs, they dropped their "toy" and ran away.
AND - the black thing was actually a kitten.
They took him with them, named him Pitic, and tried all the rest of the way to Bucharest to find a solution for him. They stopped at the first vet's office in Bucharest. However, without money for treatment, the vets there did not even want to look at the little bitten cat.
At least you gave them our contact from the SUST Orphan Animal Hospital Bucharest. The man called, told us the story and of course we told them immediately. Pitic's wounds were badly infected, but otherwise he was stable. We kept him for further treatment. After 3 days, the couple called to let us know that their treatment was also successful and they were discharged. Since Pitic's wounds need to be cleaned and treated daily, we advised the couple to leave him with us at OAH for a while longer. However, since the couple lives 300 km away and we were able to consult with the local veterinarian, they took him home. They even got him a transport basket for the trip home.
In Romania, such loving treatment of animals is not a matter of course - We have once again expressed our heartfelt thanks to the couple for their act... and hope that this story will motivate more people to do the same!

Thank you for making Pitic's little miracle possible with your donations!
