Help animals

The activities of SUST

All over the world, countless animals in overcrowded shelters live sadly or struggle for their survival in wild colonies. Day after day, even today, animals that have become inconvenient are still abandoned, deported or mistakenly kept for lack of better knowledge. The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation contributes with effective means to the fact that animal suffering can be reduced or even prevented sustainably.

This animal welfare work is based on four pillars:

1. Competence Centre Animal Shelter: Animal shelters become high-quality transition stations for homeless animals, where animals are kept and promoted in a way that is appropriate for their species and finally transferred to good new places.

2. Neutering campaigns: Braking the animal misery

3. Education and training of specialists: Specialists are given the opportunity to optimise their knowledge and improve animal welfare.

4. Education of the population: love of animals with heart and mind

These four elements form the important basis for sustainable animal welfare projects.

Those animals that are not yet able to benefit from the effects of this reconstruction work and have been born into a world where they are not wanted need the emergency aid of SUST.

Taz receives help at the SUST Animal Orphans Hospital Bucharest

Taz is a stray dog that lives just outside Bucharest. The area is so poor that he can hardly survive there. He was sighted by a rescuer who often asks for our help in desperate cases like this one.

Taz suffers from sticker sarcoma. This is a sexually transmitted cancer that causes a lot of damage to the genital area, as you can see in this one photo. All reproductive dogs can be infected by mating; one more reason for people to have their dogs neutered.
Stray dogs are left to their instincts, unless someone takes them to an animal clinic to have them neutered. Unfortunately, the risk of them developing sticker sarcoma is high.
Taz also has the mange. His poor body was therefore exposed to severe stress. And that his diet was not the best either, you can imagine. That he managed to survive is a miracle.
Thanks to your donations, we can help Taz. We treated him for mange and gave him cytostatics for his sarcoma. Fortunately, after only two doses, his genital area improved significantly. We are confident that Taz is much better.
In addition to the actual treatment with cytostatic drugs and the weekly blood count, the cancer treatment also includes the intravenous administration of fluids, as this improves the general condition of the animal.

Thank you very much for your support. It enables us to save animals that would otherwise suffer and die silently.
