Help animals

Large Animal Rescue Service GTRD

The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation finances the campaign "Even farm animals have earned professional rescue" of the GTRD (Large Animal Rescue Service).

The rescue of large animals such as horses and cows requires special equipment and a great deal of effort: in addition to professional and often expensive equipment, committed specialists with many years of training are needed to rescue large animals from life-threatening situations with a great deal of sensitivity and experience. The volunteer specialists of the large animal rescue service GTRD often accept long journeys and do not shy away from costs or dirt in order to rescue the frightened animals as gently as possible. Rescue operations of the large animal rescue service are often costly and usually involve high costs.

While most horse emergencies are covered by insurance, the costs incurred in the rescue of so-called farm animals often pose financial problems for the animal owners - often the GTRD even has to bear its own costs. However, this does not prevent the GTRD from continuing to save lives of farm animals on a daily basis using all available resources. We believe that such commitment deserves support. Therefore the SUST has agreed to pay the costs for the rescue of "farm animals" such as cows.

Because we think: Farm animals as well deserve professional rescue!

Imagine that you suspect no evil and unexpectedly fall into a dark, narrow pit filled with a cold, stinking liquid. You are scared, swimming for your life and each breath is harder than the previous one. There are people who don't want to invest money in rescuing you because you are "just" a farm animal and by rescuing you, they are somehow supporting your owners. But you need help NOW, as you are miserably in danger of drowning and suffocating. So luckily there is the Large Animal Rescue Service CH/FL, which has the appropriate equipment and trained professionals to gently rescue you from mortal danger. And luckily people who love animals, make it possible for the Susy Utzinger Foundation to finance such elaborate rescues.
"It is not in our power to stop people from consuming animal products. But when we have the opportunity to save animals from an agonizing death in their own feces, we do it."
While most equine emergencies are covered by insurance or private funding from their owners, the costs incurred in rescuing so-called farm animals often present financial problems for the farmers involved. To ensure that these important missions are nevertheless carried out, SUST, together with the GTRD, runs the campaign "Farm animals deserve professional rescue too" and for years SUST has financed the uncovered costs of rescues of so-called "farm animals".
