Help animals

The activities of SUST

All over the world, countless animals in overcrowded shelters live sadly or struggle for their survival in wild colonies. Day after day, even today, animals that have become inconvenient are still abandoned, deported or mistakenly kept for lack of better knowledge. The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation contributes with effective means to the fact that animal suffering can be reduced or even prevented sustainably.

This animal welfare work is based on four pillars:

1. Competence Centre Animal Shelter: Animal shelters become high-quality transition stations for homeless animals, where animals are kept and promoted in a way that is appropriate for their species and finally transferred to good new places.

2. Neutering campaigns: Braking the animal misery

3. Education and training of specialists: Specialists are given the opportunity to optimise their knowledge and improve animal welfare.

4. Education of the population: love of animals with heart and mind

These four elements form the important basis for sustainable animal welfare projects.

Those animals that are not yet able to benefit from the effects of this reconstruction work and have been born into a world where they are not wanted need the emergency aid of SUST.

Special mission in the SUST animal orphan hospital Bucharest

February 2020

Sometimes people love animals so much that they end up hurting them. That's what happened to this woman. The fine line between helping and hurting can be easily crossed - especially in a country where there are still hundreds of thousands of street animals. If someone takes in more and more animals, the quality of life of the animals can suffer. And if they are not castrated in time, the problem is made worse.
This woman did everything she could. She fed her cats and tried to satisfy their basic needs. But I don't think she expected so many little ones to be born. Soon she was completely overwhelmed and asked us for help.
Fortunately we were able to give her this. We castrated all cats for free and took the opportunity to worm her and treat her against ticks and fleas. Some of them were extremely shy, we could only catch them with the help of the box traps that you so generously donated to us.
After the castration all animals were brought back to the woman. She was deeply grateful to see her cats safe and healthy.

Such stories are sad. But we are very grateful for your support, because it enables us to help the animals instead of just judging the owner. Thank you very much!
