Help animals

The activities of SUST

All over the world, countless animals in overcrowded shelters live sadly or struggle for their survival in wild colonies. Day after day, even today, animals that have become inconvenient are still abandoned, deported or mistakenly kept for lack of better knowledge. The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation contributes with effective means to the fact that animal suffering can be reduced or even prevented sustainably.

This animal welfare work is based on four pillars:

1. Competence Centre Animal Shelter: Animal shelters become high-quality transition stations for homeless animals, where animals are kept and promoted in a way that is appropriate for their species and finally transferred to good new places.

2. Neutering campaigns: Braking the animal misery

3. Education and training of specialists: Specialists are given the opportunity to optimise their knowledge and improve animal welfare.

4. Education of the population: love of animals with heart and mind

These four elements form the important basis for sustainable animal welfare projects.

Those animals that are not yet able to benefit from the effects of this reconstruction work and have been born into a world where they are not wanted need the emergency aid of SUST.

Caution: Tilted windows are deadly traps for cats

In spring, not only us humans, but also many cats are magically drawn outdoors, often through even the smallest fissures. That's why special care should be taken with tilting windows!

Tilted windows tempt cats to want to climb outside. The pussycats often slip off the smooth window frame and can't pull their hind legs. The animals panic and the more they pedal and try to free themselves, the more they are pushed into the narrow crevice by their own body weight - these accidents are incredibly painful and often even fatal.

This is how you can take precautions: If you don't want to do without tilted windows, you should buy special barrier grids from specialist retailers or open the tilting window gap with a jammed "disarming" terry towel.

--> With human heads to the cat well-being - in such a way your household becomes cat-safe: The brochure "Vorsicht Katzenfalle" (only available in German) of the Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation makes attentive to dangerous everyday life mechanisms and gives advice for a cat-safe household.

--> In the brochure "Eine Katze zieht ein" (only available in German) beginning cat owners learn many interesting facts about the planned new family member, its characteristics, important addresses and the ideal cat furnishing.
