Help animals

The activities of SUST

All over the world, countless animals in overcrowded shelters live sadly or struggle for their survival in wild colonies. Day after day, even today, animals that have become inconvenient are still abandoned, deported or mistakenly kept for lack of better knowledge. The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation contributes with effective means to the fact that animal suffering can be reduced or even prevented sustainably.

This animal welfare work is based on four pillars:

1. Competence Centre Animal Shelter: Animal shelters become high-quality transition stations for homeless animals, where animals are kept and promoted in a way that is appropriate for their species and finally transferred to good new places.

2. Neutering campaigns: Braking the animal misery

3. Education and training of specialists: Specialists are given the opportunity to optimise their knowledge and improve animal welfare.

4. Education of the population: love of animals with heart and mind

These four elements form the important basis for sustainable animal welfare projects.

Those animals that are not yet able to benefit from the effects of this reconstruction work and have been born into a world where they are not wanted need the emergency aid of SUST.

Puppies, puppies, who doesn't love them?!

March 2024

Of course, those little, clumsy rascals are incredibly cute. But - many of these animals are born into a world where they have little to no chance of a life as we imagine for a puppy. Sustainable animal welfare means that such sad stories of suffering don't arise in the first place. We continue to work determinedly to tackle the problem at its root.

However, we all here at SUST-OAH Moreni in Romania believe that living beings deserve to be loved and treated with respect. That's why we never reject the opportunity to give animals the best chances - with deworming, flea and tick treatment, vaccinations, and more.

In this way, we also work to alleviate the suffering of these animals when they are abandoned alone and inexperienced on the streets or in remote areas. Four puppy siblings were found screaming at the side of a busy road and brought to us at the animal orphanage hospital by a veterinary student. Even he is amazed that it's possible to receive top-notch medical services - which we can offer here at the SUST Orphan Animal Hospital - for free. That's why our pillar of education is as important as our foundation: SUST Emergency Relief. We remain active on all levels - and help where we can.

Thanks to your donations, we were able to provide the puppies with free deworming and flea/tick treatment, as well as a special shampoo treatment for skin problems. In return, their rescuer has promised to find them good homes. All's well that ends well!
