Found a fledgling...

May 2022

Animal welfare by acting correctly.

Fledgling found: What to do?

Fledgling of many bird species leave their nest and learn to fly as soon as their feathers are fully developed. Until they are able to do this properly and are independent, they continue to be fed by their parents on the ground. Often the seemingly helpless fluttering young birds are picked up by animal-loving people. Such well-intentioned actions are fatal for most of these animals: fledglings have the best chance of survival if they are fed and cared for by their parent birds. On this SUST-Info-Pic you can see what you should do if you have found a fledgling.
