Window: a cat trap

September 2021

A sad topic that is particularly relevant in autumn: Tilted windows are deadly cat traps!

Tilted windows tempt cats to want to climb outside. In doing so, the cats often slip on the slippery window frame and are unable to drag their hind legs. The animals panic and the more they kick and try to free themselves, the more they are pushed into the narrow crevice by their own body weight - these accidents are incredibly painful for the animals and often end fatally.

If you can't do without tilted windows, you should get special barrier grids from your local pet store or "defuse" the tilt window gap with a thick terry cloth tucked in (the cloth should still light down on both sides of the window angle).

Here you can order the brochure "Caution cat trap" of the Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Welfare free of charge: https://www.susyutzinger.ch/Shop (available in German only)
