Orphan Wildlife @ Wildlife Rehabilitation Center “Luanas Dream”

A Center for Romanian wildLIFE in need

The SUST-Wildlife Rehabilitation Center "Luanas Dream" gives a second chance for Romanian wildlife in need. Injured and sick wild animals are nursed back to health or raised here after being rescued to be later reintroduced back into the wild.

Patients at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center are many different wild birds, but also deer, foxes, badgers, turtles and many other animals.

The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation has been supporting this valuable project for many years, on the one hand by financing enclosures and facilities, and on the other hand by covering monthly maintenance costs (food, wages, etc.).

The young animal season in Romania has officially begun!

April 2024

Already, the first baby foxes, squirrels, wild rabbits, and birds have been brought to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center "Luana's Dream" in Bucharest. To meet the expected influx of young animals, a SUST team is already prepared to assist the local team with raising and caring for these animals this spring.

Please remember, if you happen to find a young animal in the near future: Not every baby animal needs rescue! Often, the mother is nearby, waiting to return to her young. Even if you are certain that a young animal is orphaned or injured, it's best to contact a wildlife expert (wildlife station, bird observatory, squirrel or hedgehog station) before taking any action. Otherwise, avoid touching the young animal and move away from the location as quickly as possible.

SUST has been supporting "Luana's Dream" for many years. In addition to funding various construction projects, it fully covers the care for orphaned and injured young animals through the Orphan Wildlife @ Wildlife Rehabilitation Center "Luana's Dream" project.
