Slowing down the animal misery: The SUST tackles it sustainably

Hundreds of thousands of street dogs and cats fight for survival in many countries, countless of them are captured and many of them vegetate under terrible conditions, while new unwanted kittens are born all the time. The suffering of unwanted dogs and cats is infinite in many countries.

Castrations are the only way to reduce the overpopulation of street animals in a long-term and animal-friendly way. Thousands of dogs, cats and other animals have already been successfully operated in various countries by the Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation. As a result of this measure, countless unwanted animals were not even born in the first place. Such actions have a future: No more emaciated animal mothers on the streets, no more famine and no more sexually transmitted diseases, where the animals perish miserably.

If the number of street animals is reduced, the unwanted, "disturbing" animals will no longer be tortured: No more poisoning actions, no more animals beaten to death, no more shooting actions. In this way the animal misery is slowed down, slowly but steadily and sustainably.

The SUST in Spain

Steadily growing animal welfare success since 2001

The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation has been supporting animal shelters and animal welfare organisations in Spain since 2001 - and new projects and partner animal shelters are constantly being added. On this map of Spain you can see the animal protection projects supported by the SUST.

Also here, the animal welfare work is based on four pillars:

1. Animal shelter support: help for self-help

SUST plans and carries out animal shelter optimizations, finances animal feed, carries out working weeks, supplies relief supplies (animal utensils) on pallets, finances and carries out conversions.

2. Castration actions: Braking the animal misery

Together with its partner projects and veterinarians in Spain, SUST carries out and finances extensive castration operations.

3. Training and educating professionals: The problem is tackled at its root

Together with its partners, SUST plans and conducts veterinary training courses and animal welfare seminars in Spain.

4. Education of the population: Animal love with heart and mind

The SUST information brochures, children's books and poster campaigns are also available in Spanish.

These four pillars are based on emergency aid for animals in need: The SUST finances emergency feed supplies and various materials in emergency situations.
