The 4 pillars of the foundation (SUST)

Animal welfare with heart and mind
These four elements form the important base to sustainable animal welfare projects.

Those animals that are not yet able to benefit from the effects of this reconstruction work and have been born into a world where they are not wanted, need the emergency aid of SUST.

The renovation of the puppy station at the Misina shelter, Hungary, is progressing rapidly.

Even in 37 degrees heat, our animal protection teams are full of energy!

In summer many animals suffer severely. When the most beautiful time of the year begins for humans, the animal shelters are particularly busy: abandoned, deported and injured animals literally "flood" many shelters. And also many animal housing grievances come to light only now. During this time, many animal shelters hardly know where to house all their orphans any more. They need even more material, even more food, even more veterinary help and even more helping hands.

For this reason, the SUST conducts animal shelter work days in Switzerland during the summer months and for this reason, the SUST teams are now also setting out to lend a hand in their partner animal shelters abroad. In addition to countless deliveries of relief supplies, financing of renovations and various emergency food deliveries, these animal shelter working weeks are an important task in the area of SUST animal shelter support.

This week, an 8-person SUST team is working at the Misina Természet and Állatvédő Animal Shelter Egyesület (adószám: 18303841-1-02)Pecs, Hungary: Among other things, the long overdue renovation of the puppy ward, the basic cleaning of the clinic, the repair of the clinic roof, pig suds and the renovation of the goat run are being tackled.

This shelter is home to around 200 dogs and 50 cats. Over 1,000 dogs and almost 300 cats are admitted here every year: Most of them can be placed in good new places within Hungary. In addition, many large animals (horses, ponies, donkeys, cows, buffalos, sheep, goats), small animals (chinchillas, rabbits, guinea pigs, budgerigars, and many other exotic birds, degus and others) as well as a wildlife station with reintroduction facilities belong to the shelter. Many of the injured wild animals can be cared for and reintroduced into the wild. In addition to castration activities, the Misina shelter also places great value on information and education: regular school class events and student camps with dogs and horses (here we also work with the SUST children's booklets), dog training and training for dog trainers contribute a lot to improving animal keeping. In addition, therapy dogs are trained and actively used in this animal protection centre.
