Also the club of the rat friends CH introduces itself and its work at the animal protection market:
"The animal protection market of the Susy Utzinger Foundation offers the club of the rat friends the extraordinary opportunity to inform the population interested in animal protection about optimal rat keeping in a very special ambience.
At our stand you can stock up with the guide to optimal rat keeping, terry towels, capes, cuddles for rats, containers for rat snacks and food, T-shirts and jackets as well as homemade rat snacks. We are looking forward to many visitors".

Our association is a community of interest of animal welfare activists who have been committed to the protection of rats as rat friends for 25 years - be it for wild, laboratory or pet rats. We have placed rats at the centre of our work in order to represent their interests. In this sense we do not advertise for example for the attitude of rats as domestic animals, since in our opinion a really species-appropriate attitude of these animals is not possible. This is also one of the reasons why we do not breed rats. We try to place the many homeless and needy rats, which are born again and again with animal keepers, in good places.
We also want to offer the public the opportunity to get to know rats, because in this way unfounded fears of contact and prejudices against these interesting, adaptive and clean animals can be reduced.
Our main concerns:
- Education : Education about the needs of rats
- Rat rights: call for the keeping of rats in the home, breeding and laboratory sectors to take best account of the needs of the animals
- Advice and help: Advice & help with problems with rats
- Commitment: Commitment against the breeding of rats and the trade with them
- Placement: placement of homeless rats
- Exchange of experiences: Exchange of experiences among rat friends
- Animal testing: Commitment against animal testing
- Public relations: Public relations via the media and own publications
- Events: Events (lectures, information stands, etc.)
