Emergency aid

How animal lifes are saved

Those animals that are not yet able to benefit from the effects of the sustainable SUST development work and have been born into a world where they are not wanted need immediate help.

SUST offers immediate assistance through:

Emergency aid

SUST Emergency help is done by

  • Animal rescue operations
  • Social work in Switzerland
  • Financing of all livestock rescue services of the Swiss Large Animal Rescue Service
  • Laying hens actions (switching of "out-of-date" laying hens)
  • Organisation, implementation and/or financing of emergency plans and operations
  • Work horse treatments
  • First aid and veterinary interventions

and through the

SUST Orphan Animal Hospitals (SUST)

In many countries countless abandoned animals live on the streets. Many of these dogs and cats have been abandoned or have already been born as strays. Life on the street is dangerous and full of privation. Injured and sick animals usually have no chance of surviving and die mostly painfully and alone on the street. In such cases, there is often not a lack of willingness to help animal-loving people, but a lack of financial means to have street animals treated by a veterinarian.

To help these animals in need, the Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation set up the SUST Orphan Animal Hospitals.

There are currently one of these institutions in

Ever since its opening, animals that have been injured or ill are admitted daily to the SUST Orphan Animal Hospitals, where they are cared for and treated professionally. If the animals are healthy and strong enough to survive on the streets after their recovery, they will be released back to their territory. Special patients with special needs will be accommodated in animal shelters if possible. Fortunately, it is also possible to find new life places for patients on an ongoing basis.

The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation finances the veterinary costs, clinic equipment, medicines, operations, therapies, food and care in the animal orphan hospitals. Often, SUST also finances the construction of the corresponding clinic.

The activities of the Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Welfare are financed exclusively by donations and legacies (no public support).

Food emergency: The Corona crisis affects many animal shelters, but also private animal owners

Emergency calls for animal feed reach us daily! Animal shelters and animal boards need our help now. Therefore the Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Protection helps in Switzerland, but also in many other countries.

Serious feed shortages occur time and again in animal shelters. The SUST emergency feed aid is there for animal shelters and their protégés in Switzerland and abroad.

THE SUST-FOOD-EMERGENCY AID WORKS THAT EASY

1. quick, easy and unbureaucratic: Here you can donate for animal food. The money goes into a special account and is used 1:1 for the purchase of animal food.

2. professional and safe: The SUST selects animal shelters for its support that meet minimum animal welfare standards. Preference is given to animal shelters and animal welfare projects that work sustainably. Of course, emergencies have priority. But also street dog feeding stations and private animal owners in need are supported.

3. fast, targeted, environmentally friendly: The SUST uses it to buy the required food directly on site. This keeps long waiting times, such as delivery and transport costs to a minimum.

4. donate safely: The feed deliveries are documented on the social media channels of the SUST.

Every contribution saves lives: Please support our food donation campaign!

SWITZERLAND
- Many Swiss animal shelters and mercy courts regularly receive food deliveries for their homeless protégés from the SUST warehouse.
- SUST social work for animals gives food and utensils directly to animal panels https://www.susyutzinger.ch/en/Activities/Emergency-help/Social-work
- For feed deliveries in Switzerland we are supported by feed manufacturers and we also accept feed donations from private animal lovers (please send only closed feed bags and cans/bags by mail to: Susy Utzinger Stiftung für Tierschutz, Weisslingerstrasse 1, 8483 Kollbrunn)

ABROAD
- Food shortage in animal shelters: Many animal shelters feed their homeless animals with leftover food from school canteens, restaurants and hotels - this vital support has now been lost from one day to the next during the Corona crisis
- Animal shelters are overcrowded: In addition, many pet owners currently give their animals to the shelters for financial reasons or abandon them
- Donation crisis: In this crisis, many animal shelters no longer receive donations.
- Animal owners in need: If they can no longer feed their animals, they abandon them. Therefore we also distribute food to animal owners in need
