How animal lifes are saved

Those animals that are not yet able to benefit from the effects of the sustainable SUST development work and have been born into a world where they are not wanted need immediate help.

SUST Orphan Animal Hospitals (SUST)

In many countries countless abandoned animals live on the streets. Many of these dogs and cats have been abandoned or have already been born as strays. Life on the street is dangerous and full of privation. Injured and sick animals usually have no chance of surviving and die mostly painfully and alone on the street. In such cases, there is often not a lack of willingness to help animal-loving people, but a lack of financial means to have street animals treated by a veterinarian.

To help these animals in need, the Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation set up the SUST Orphan Animal Hospitals.

There are currently one of these institutions in

Ever since its opening, animals that have been injured or ill are admitted daily to the SUST Orphan Animal Hospitals, where they are cared for and treated professionally. If the animals are healthy and strong enough to survive on the streets after their recovery, they will be released back to their territory. Special patients with special needs will be accommodated in animal shelters if possible. Fortunately, it is also possible to find new life places for patients on an ongoing basis.

The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation finances the veterinary costs, clinic equipment, medicines, operations, therapies, food and care in the animal orphan hospitals. Often, SUST also finances the construction of the corresponding clinic.

The activities of the Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Welfare are financed exclusively by donations and legacies (no public support).

SUST Soforthilfe bei Notfall in Libanon

ACHTUNG, hier berichten wir von einem Notfall, der selbst in uns - die doch schon Einiges erlebt haben - nur Wut, Unverständnis und Herzschmerz auslöst.
Auch, beinhaltet das Video ganz unten Bilder, die nur schwer zu verdauen sind… schauen Sie sich also das Video nicht an, wenn Bilder von verendeten Tieren traumatisierend auf Sie wirken und lesen nur den Text.

Unsere Partnerorganisation BETA Lebanon wurde vor kurzem auf einen Lastwagen voller ausgesetzter Hunde in der Nähe von Beirut aufmerksam gemacht.

Die Geschichte wie es dazu kam ist rasch erzählt. Eine vermeintliche Tierschützerin wollte die Tiere loswerden, da sie die Bewilligung für ihr Tierheim nicht erhalten hat.
Das hat wohl seinen guten Grund.
Augenzeugen berichteten von Horden kranker Hunde und einem furchtbaren Gestank wegen der Kadaver verendeter Hunde.

Ihre Lösung:

Mit einem LKW die unterernährten, dehydrierten, von Parasiten geplagten und an dem ansteckenden Staupevirus leidenden Hunde einfach in einer anderen Gegend - bei brütender Hitze - abzuladen und so das Problem loszuwerden.

Da keiner der Hunde kastriert ist, sind viele der Hündinnen trächtig. Eine Hündin hat in dem LKW geworfen… die frischgeborenen Welpen sind im Kot und Gedränge jedoch verendet.

Alle Tiere mussten einzeln getestet werden um nicht noch mehr Ansteckungen zu riskieren…

Was dank Ihren Spenden mit unserer Soforthilfe finanziert werden konnte. Aber auch mit negativen Tests müssen die Tiere in Isolation. Doch, weder BETA, noch die an der Rettungsaktion beteiligte Klinik hatte gerade eben Platz für 68 Hunde.

Dank guten Kontakten wurde aber rasch ein Stück Land gefunden, um die Tiere richtig zu versorgen.
Das dringend benötigte, viele Futter dafür, wurde ebenfalls durch Ihre Spenden finanziert!

Einige Tiere erholen sich bereits wieder, während andere noch kämpfen.

Dank Ihren Spenden, ist das Überleben von den rund 70 Hunden zwar vorerst gesichert - Ihre Versorgung längerfristig sicherzustellen wird allerdings langen Atem brauchen - Mit Ihrer Unterstützung schaffen wir das:
