How animal lifes are saved

Those animals that are not yet able to benefit from the effects of the sustainable SUST development work and have been born into a world where they are not wanted need immediate help.

SUST offers immediate assistance through:

SUST Orphan Animal Hospitals (SUST)

In many countries countless abandoned animals live on the streets. Many of these dogs and cats have been abandoned or have already been born as strays. Life on the street is dangerous and full of privation. Injured and sick animals usually have no chance of surviving and die mostly painfully and alone on the street. In such cases, there is often not a lack of willingness to help animal-loving people, but a lack of financial means to have street animals treated by a veterinarian.

To help these animals in need, the Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation set up the SUST Orphan Animal Hospitals.

There are currently one of these institutions in

Ever since its opening, animals that have been injured or ill are admitted daily to the SUST Orphan Animal Hospitals, where they are cared for and treated professionally. If the animals are healthy and strong enough to survive on the streets after their recovery, they will be released back to their territory. Special patients with special needs will be accommodated in animal shelters if possible. Fortunately, it is also possible to find new life places for patients on an ongoing basis.

The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation finances the veterinary costs, clinic equipment, medicines, operations, therapies, food and care in the animal orphan hospitals. Often, SUST also finances the construction of the corresponding clinic.

The activities of the Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Welfare are financed exclusively by donations and legacies (no public support).

SUST Orphan Animal Hospital OAH Budapest, Ungarn

Established December 2016

In December 2016, the SUST Orphan Animal Hospital Budapest joined the SUST OAH Group, where injured and sick animals receive urgently needed veterinary care.

The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation finances the Orphan Animal Hospital on the "Animal-Island" and pays for the veterinarian's costs, pays for medicines, operations, therapies and care. If the animals are able to return to their Finders or to the animal shelter after their recovery, this will happen - many of the stranded casualties will also find shelter in the shelter Rex kutyaotthon alapítvány on the animal island and be placed in good places.

Since 2002, the Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation has been committed to animal welfare in Hungary. In this long and intensive period of time, the animal welfare situation in this country has improved massively: countless organisations have asked for and received support from us, many animal shelters have been optimised, we hold animal welfare seminars and veterinary training courses, we provide information brochures and leaflets for animal keepers and there are many different castration campaigns throughout the country. One of our animal protection partners in Hungary is the Budapest Nature and Animal Protection Center (Animal Island): it is exceptionally well designed and modernly managed. The animal friends on site - in addition to the optimal husbandry and placement of homeless dogs and cats - are also committed to the appropriate care of farm animals and the education of school children. SUST has been working with this organisation for many years and has already financed various infrastructures.
