Dogs - Q&A's

zurück

My neighbor's dog barks all the time, what can I do?

It makes sense to talk to your neighbor first. Make him aware of the problem. Maybe the owner does not even know that his dog is constantly barking in his absence and perhaps a good solution already arises in the conversation.

If the neighbor is not reasonable, you can either notify the police so that they can make an on-site inspection or you can contact the cantonal veterinary office directly. The veterinary office will then make an on-site inspection in order to seek a solution with the dog owner. If it turns out that the dog is left alone for too long, this may violate the Animal Protection Law, depending on the specific circumstances. Furthermore, the question arises as to where the boundary lies between reasonable and unreasonable animal noise, the so-called immissions. An immission is only prohibited if it is excessive. In principle, this is not based on the subjective perception of the person affected by the noise, but on the perception of an average person in the same situation.

In the worst case, you have to go to court.
